How do I set my DVR to record programs when I'm not at home?

If you ever forget to set your DVR while you're sitting in front of your TV, no problem. With DIRECTV, you can set your DVR from anywhere, using practically any device. Here's how:

Using your computer or tablet:

  1. Go to directv.com and sign in. (If you don't have an online account, it takes just seconds to create one.)
  2. If you're looking for a particular title, simply use the search field at the top of the site. In the search results, you'll find your program under the Entertainment section
  3. If you want to browse top movies, shows, or sports, click or tap Movies, TV Shows, or Sports on the navigation bar in the Watch DIRECTV section of our site.
  4. You can also use our 14-day online Guide to find your program. Just click or tap Guide in the Watch DIRECTV section.
  5. Once you've found your program, just click or tap the Record button.

Using your cell phone:

There are a couple ways to use your cell phone to set your DVR: by going to directv.com on your mobile browser or by using the FREE DIRECTV App.


directv.com on your mobile browser:

  1. Go to directv.com and sign in. (Don't have an online account? You can create one in seconds right from your phone.)
  2. Tap Watch DIRECTV and if you have a particular title in mind, just use the search field at the top of the screen.
  3. If you want to browse top movies, shows, or sports, just scroll down the Watch DIRECTV page and tap the category you want.
  4. You can also use our 14-day online Guide to find your program. Scroll down to the bottom of the Watch DIRECTV page and tapComplete 14-day Channel Guide.
  5. Once you've found your program, just tap the Record button.

DIRECTV App:

  1. If you haven't installed the app on your phone, just go to the App Store or Google Play from your iPhone or Android phone and download it. It's FREE!
  2. Open the app and sign in (if you're using the app for the first time).
  3. If you're looking for a specific title, tap Search at the bottom of the screen and just enter what you're looking for.
  4. If you want to browse, tap Browse By Channel, Browse By Date & Time, or Movies.
  5. Once you've found your program, just tap the Record button.

Once you've set your recording, you'll receive a confirmation email.
