What is the DIRECTV Player and how do I install it on my computer?

The DIRECTV Player is FREE software required for watching movies and shows on directv.com on your computer. Installation is quick and easy. If you’ve downloaded and installed other software from the Internet, the process for the DIRECTV Player is essentially no different. Once you've installed the software, you can start enjoying thousands of movies and shows online, anytime, anywhere.

Here’s a step-by-step for installing the DIRECTV Player for PC or Mac.

Installing on a PC:
1. Click here to download the DIRECTV Player installer file. The download takes just seconds.
2. You’ll be prompted to either run or save the file “DIRECTV_Player.exe.” Click Run.
3. The installer will first check to see if you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. If you don’t, you’ll see a prompt to install it. Just click Install. (If you already have the latest version of Flash installed, you won’t see this prompt.)
4. After the Flash installation is complete, the installer will automatically proceed with the installation of the DIRECTV Player. Just follow the prompts you see on your screen.
5. When the installation of DIRECTV Player is complete, re-launch your browser. It should open to a page with a “successful installation” message and a link to start browsing movies and shows to watch online. If you don’t see this page, just go to directv.com/everywhere to start browsing.

Installing on a Mac:
1. Click here to download the DIRECTV Player installer file. The download takes just seconds.
2. Find the downloaded file in the location designated for your downloads, usually your Downloads folder or your Desktop.
Tip: Not sure of your downloads location? Go to your browser’s Preferences and look in the General tab (Safari, Firefox) or Advanced Settings (Chrome).
3. Double-click the downloaded file labeled “DIRECTV_Player.dmg.”
4. You’ll see a new folder containing a file named “DIRECTV_Player.pkg.” Double-click this file to start the installation.
5. From here, just follow the simple on-screen instructions.
Tip: DIRECTV Player requires Adobe Flash Player. If you don’t have the latest version of Flash installed, the installer will automatically install it for you after it finishes installing the DIRECTV Player.
6. When the installation is complete, just re-launch your browser. It should open to a page with a “successful installation” message and a link to start browsing movies and shows to watch online. If you don’t see this page, just go to directv.com/everywhere to start browsing.
