How to watch movies and shows on your phone

With DIRECTV, you can watch hit movies and shows on your iPhone® or Android™ device, anytime, anywhere you have an Internet connection. Choose from hundreds of the latest DIRECTV CINEMA movies, the hottest shows and movies from premium networks (HBO®, STARZ®, Cinemax®, and Encore®), and more.

First, install the FREE DIRECTV App from the App Store or Google Play if you haven't already done so. And then launch your web browser and proceed with the steps below:

Step 1

Go to directv.com on your web browser, then tap Watch DIRECTV.

Step 2

Tap Movies to Watch Online or TV Shows to Watch Online.

Step 3

Select any movie or show by tapping on it.

Step 4

On the next screen, tap Watch Now to start watching. You'll be prompted to sign in with your directv.com online account if you haven't already done so.

If the Watch Now button includes a price, that means you selected movie requires a purchase. Just complete the order on the following screen to start watching.

If you see an Activate Now button instead of Watch Now, that means the movie or show your selected is from a network you're not subscribed to. Just tap the button to activate the network. Activation takes just a few minutes. Once activation is complete, your movie or show will be available for viewing. The network will now also be available on your TV, and its movies and shows will be available on all your devices, including your computer, tablet, and cell phone.

When you start watching, the DIRECTV App will open automatically and your video will start playing within the app.

Tip

Looking for a specific movie or show? Try the Search field at the top of the page. If your movie or show appears in the search results but you do not see a Watch Now button, look for the Watch Online link below Other Ways to Watch.

Note: Not all titles are available for online viewing, so you may not always see the Watch Now button or the Watch Online link.
