How can I watch DIRECTV programming in 1080p?

Print

DIRECTV HD receivers and HD DVRs (models H20/HR20 and above) support 1080p with 24 frames per second format. We will also be incorporating additional programming in this format in the future. All of our DIRECTV CINEMA™ titles are available in 1080p/24 and viewers are able to view recorded HD programs in 1080p/24.

If you have a 1080p capable TV set today it will work fine with DIRECTV and it will display all other HD formats. When you want to watch programming in this format (currently primarily DIRECTV CINEMA titles) you'll need to make sure your TV is set up to support 1080p/24. To make sure that your TV is set up to support 1080p, follow these steps:

  • Press MENU on remote.
  • Select - Settings & Help.
  • Select- System.
  • Select- HDTV.
  • Select- TV Resolutions.
  • Select 1080p and QUICKLY press the INFO button on remote.
  • Is 1080p selected?

If YES - Your TV and receiver can communicate in 1080p (to view a title in 1080p, set Native=OFF).

If NO - Try steps again. If they still fail, your TV might not be 1080p/24.
