Why are some Saturday and Sunday games blacked out of MLB EXTRA INNINGS?

Print

Generally, you'll find out-of-market games on MLB EXTRA INNINGS channels (722-749). For teams in your home market, the games will be shown on your Regional Sports Network (RSN) or a local channel. However, the following restrictions apply to games played on weekends:

SATURDAYS:

Due to an agreement between Major League Baseball and FOX Television Network, any out-of-market Saturday game that starts within three hours before or after the start of a game that is broadcast on FOX will not be available with the MLB EXTRA INNINGS package.

For instance:
  • If FOX broadcasts a game starting at 1:10 p.m. ET, any other game starting before 4:10 p.m. ET will not be available with the MLB EXTRA INNINGS package.
  • If FOX broadcasts a game starting at 4:10 p.m. ET, any other game starting between 1:10 p.m-7:05 p.m. ET will not be available with the MLB EXTRA INNINGS package.
  • If FOX broadcasts a game starting at 7:10 p.m. ET, any other game starting between 4:10 p.m-10:05 p.m. ET will not be available with the MLB EXTRA INNINGS package.
SUNDAYS:

Due to an agreement between Major League Baseball and ESPN, any out-of-market Sunday game that begins after 5:00 p.m. ET will not be available with the MLB EXTRA INNINGS package.

For more information, or to provide feedback about this, please contact Major League Baseball through their website at MLB.com or call them at (212) 931-7500.
