How do I record On Demand movies and shows to my home DVR from my computer, tablet, or cell phone?

DIRECTV offers thousands of On Demand movies and shows to watch on your TV, many available at no extra charge and some available as Pay Per View. Here’s how to find and record them to your home DVR from anywhere using your computer, tablet, or cellphone. Please note: to access On Demand movies and shows, you need an HD DVR connected to the Internet. Learn more

Step 1

Go to directv.com and sign in. (If you don't have an online account, it takes just seconds to create one.)

Step 2

Use the search field at the top of the site to find a specific title or browse by clicking Movies and TV Shows in the navigation bar. (If you don’t see Movies or TV Shows, click Watch DIRECTV in the navigation to reveal the entertainment menu.)

Step 3

If you want to see what free titles are available, select “Show Filters” and then check the “Free” box.

Step 4

Once you’ve found the title you want to record, just place your mouse over the poster (or tap it if you’re on a mobile device) and then click Record.

Step 5

Confirm by clicking Record again. If you want change your receiver or record a different showing, click Edit.

Step 6

If you selected a Pay Per View movie, you can purchase it by clicking Order Now. Or you can purchase it later when you’re ready to watch. You are NOT charged for the movie when you click the Record button.

Step 7

In a few minutes, the title will appear on your DVR playlist. Press the LIST button on your remote control to see your DVR playlist.

Step 8

Select the title from your DVR playlist. If it’s a Pay Per View movie, you’ll see an on-screen message asking you confirm your purchase. Select "Yes, Confirm" and you’re ready to start watching.

Tap the Menu icon. Use the search field at the top of the menu to find a specific title. You can also browse title by tapping Watch DIRECTV, then Movies or TV Shows.
