My DIRECTV receiver won’t turn on. What should I do?

If your receiver won’t turn on, there might be a problem with your receiver’s power supply.
Solution 1:Check that your receiver is getting power

ImageMake sure your TV is on.
ImagePress the Power button on the front panel of your receiver.
Receiver’s light doesn’t turn on? Try Solution 2.
Solution 2: Check your power supply cables

ImageUnplug the end of the power cord connected to the back of your receiver and plug it back in. Make sure it’s securely connected.
ImageUnplug the other end of your receiver’s power cord that’s plugged into the electrical outlet and plug it back in.

Note: If the electrical outlet is controlled by a wall light switch, make sure the switch is on. If your receiver is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is on.

Solution 3: Check the electrical outlet

ImageTest the electrical outlet that your receiver is plugged in to by plugging another electrical appliance (for example, a lamp) into it.

Note: If your appliance doesn’t turn on, you may want to try resetting the circuit breaker or any Ground Fault Current Interrupter outlets (pictured on the right) you have in your home.

ImagePlug your receiver into an outlet you know is working properly.
