DIRECTV Error Code 792

792 is an error code indicates that your receiver is searching for an Off-Air Tuner signal. This is not an issue with the DIRECTV signal, but an issue with locating a signal from a separate antennae that may be in use.

In rare instances, this might be caused by a severe storm. If you are experiencing heavy rain, hail, or snow, please wait for it to pass. If there are no sever weather conditions in your area, proceed to the steps below.

 

Are DIRECTV local channels available in your area?

Please review your subscribed programming. You can make sure local programming is available in your area by checking your Local Channel availability here

 

Are you using an H20, HR20 or HR10-250 receiver?

If so, please:

  • Check the cabling between the Off-Air Antenna and the receiver.
  • Ensure cabling is not frayed or damaged.
  • Ensure connections are tight at the antenna and the Off-Air In port on the receiver.

 

Is an External Off-Air Tuner (AM21) attached to your receiver?

If so, please:

  • Check the cabling between the Off-Air Antenna and the receiver.
  • Ensure cabling is not frayed or damaged.
  • Ensure connections are tight at the antenna and the Off-Air In port on the AM21.

 

Antenna alignment issues

  • Please check www.antennaweb.org to help determine off-air signal coverage in your area. This is a nonprofit, independent source where you can verify that you are able to get a clear over-the-air signal in your area. If the site indicates “No OTA Signal“, you may not be able to receive off-air antenna channels.
  • Please refer to your off-air antenna manual or manufacturer for assistance in adjusting or aligning the antenna.
